Father Makes SPIDER-MAN Fan Film to Honor Late Son

Watch out, world! Mike Wilson is the Amazing Spider-Dad!

Last year, Wilson made headlines by posing as Spider-Man as a surprise for his son, Jayden, on his fifth birthday. The video of the event went viral, as Wilson lept from the roof of his home in Basingstoke, England, to give super-fan Jayden an entrance that only Spider-Man could deliver.

Jayden Wilson was diagnosed with Grade 4 brain stem tumor and passed away a month after the original Spider-Dad video was released. To honor his late son, Wilson has used his Parkour abilities to once again become the Amazing Spider-Dad in a new short film, which was produced by Mike Wilson and Adam Brashaw, with Brashaw directing the film as well. Andy Greaves provided the special effects. In the short, Wilson shows off his Parkour skills while wearing the Spider-Man costume before crediting Jayden with inspiring him to do great things.

The Amazing Spider-Dad borrows pretty heavily from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, and there are definitely some campy moments. But this video was clearly made with a lot of love, and footage of Jayden plays over the credits alongside a request to donate to Naomi House & Jacksplace, a children’s hospice. 100% of the ad revenue generated by the Amazing Spider-Dad short will go directly to Naomi House in a fund dedicated to Jayden’s memory,

You can watch the original Spider-Dad video below.
