FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Recruits Jon Voight

The Harry Potter spinoff/prequel movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has started production, and added three new members of the cast! Foremost among them is screen legend Jon Voight, the star of Midnight Cowboy, Deliverance, The Champ, The Rainmaker, and Coming Home, the movie for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. Voight also costars in the Showtime original series, Ray Donovan. However, there are currently no details about which character Voight will play in Fantastic Beasts.

Humans star Gemma Chan and Carmen Ejogo have also joined Fantastic Beasts in unspecified roles. Chan has previously starred in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, London Fields, and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Ejogo costarred as Coretta Scott King in Selma, and her next feature film will be Born To Be Blue, the biography of jazz musician Chet Baker.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is based upon the short novel by J.K. Rowling, who also wrote the screenplay. It takes place 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter novels and it follows the adventures of Newt Scamander, the leading magizoologist of the wizarding world. Eddie Redmayne is playing Newt Scamander, with Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Ezra Miller as Credence, Colin Farrell as Graves, Dan Fogler as Jacob, and Samantha Morton as Mary Lou.

David Yates is returning to the Harry Potter franchise to direct Fantastic Beasts. The film will be released on November 18, 2016.
