FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Casts a New Muggle, Plus More Movie News

Did you know we have not one but two films with strong reviews hitting theaters this weekend? Hey, the way things have been going so far this summer, that ain’t half bad! Before you run out to your local multiplex to see Pete’s Dragon or Sausage Party, however, take a moment to check out today’s Movie Morsels. We’ve got the latest casting news on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a title and release date for the third Bad Boys film (!), and much more!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts

And the latest actor to join the cast of the J.K Rowling adaptation Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is… Zoe Kravitz! Now we don’t exactly know who the Mad Max: Fury Road star will play in the film, due out on November 18 and set 70 years before the events in the Harry Potter film series. But seeing as how Kravitz has always been a bewitching presence in films (sorry), my money’s on her playing a wizard of some sort. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress was “added after production began [and] has a small role in the first Fantastic Beasts film (which is now in post-production) but there’s the possibility for her to return with a meatier part in the sequel.”

Bad Boys 3

Bad Boys

If you’ve been waiting for Bad Boys 3 ever since Michael Bay’s first Bad Boys sequel hit theaters way back in 2003, then smile, for you now know exactly how much longer you’ll have to wait. And while it might be a little longer than you’d hoped, at least we also now what the film will be called: Bad Boys for Life will hit theaters on Janaury 12, 2018. Personally, I can’t wait for a fourth installment to have some kind of surprise zombie-related twist. Bad Boys After Death anyone?

The Lego Ninjago Movie

With all the positive buzz surrounding next year’s LEGO Batman Movie, it’s easy to forget that there’s another LEGO spinoff movie within this rapidly expanding Warner Bros. mega-franchise. Though here’s some cause to get excited for The Lego Ninjago Movie: it’s voice cast has two new recruits in Justin Theroux (as Garmadon) and Olivia Munn (as Koko). The two join the already announced Jackie Chan (as Master Wu), Dave Franco (as Lloyd), Michael Peña (as Kai), Abbi Jacobson (as Nya), Kumail Nanjiani (as Jay), Zach Woods (as Zane), and Fred Armisen (as Cole). The toy-inspired Ninjago “is the story of six young ninja tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors, using their skills and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens struggling against their greatest enemy: high school.” It debuts on September 22, 2017.

Queen of the Air

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie (pictured above in The Wolf of Wall Street) has had no shortage of work in theaters this summer with both The Legend of Tarzan and Suicide Squad; the latter of which saw her perform some pretty impressive acrobatics. Skills that will no doubt serve her well in her latest upcoming project, Queen of the Air. Based on the book by Dean N. Jensen and described as a “period love drama,” the film will see Robbie play Lillian Leitzel, a world-famous trapeze artist with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in the early 20th century who experienced a wild romance with, and marriage to, fellow trapeze artist Alfredo Codona, shortly before their tragic deaths.

Bad Santa 2

Finally today… If you were reluctant to watch the NSFW red band trailer for Bad Santa 2 that we showed you a couple of days ago for fear your employer might frown upon it, well, fortune has smiled upon you… Below, you can check out the sequel’s green band trailer. You see how much we love you here at Movie Morsels?
