Fans Find New Way to Kill LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE WIND WAKER Boss

Fourteen years ago, some Zelda fans were slow to embrace The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker‘s cartoonish syle, but the game has since been recognized as one of the more unique titles in the franchise. Amazingly, some of The Wind Waker‘s secrets have gone undiscovered, until now!

Via Kotaku, YouTube user Fish_waffle64 posted a video in which they defeated Kalle Demos—the boss of the Forbidden Woods—without using Link’s sword and boomerang. Instead, it turns out that using the magical forest water from Link’s side quest kills Kalle Demos almost immediately. The initial video proved that this works on Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for Nintendo Wii U. However, subsequent testing has also proven that it works on the original GameCube version of Wind Waker as well!

The fact that this tactic works in both versions seems to indicate that this was by design rather than a glitch. It’s actually a really clever way to deal with the tricky boss, and it’s even more amazing that no one thought to try it earlier. We’re so used to gaming companies revealing all of a title’s secrets in official strategy guides that it’s refreshing for something new to be discovered long after a game has been released.

As noted by Kotaku, there are other tactics that can be used against Kalle Demos,if you don’t want to go through the side quest for the magical water. It turns out that bombs work pretty well, too, it’s just not quite as satisfying.
