Fans Finally Get Justice When Deadpool Fights Deadpool

It has been a sore spot with comic book fans that is only just now starting to be remedied after six years. I am speaking, of course, about the portrayal of Deadpool in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While 20th Century Fox and Ryan Reynolds are working to give Deadpool his due with their new film, a new video from ismahawk, the guys behind the Nightwing fan-series, finally puts Weapon XI in his place. The channel kicks off a new series they call “Minute Match-Up” that pits famous characters from comics, cartoons, and video games against each other in quick fighting game-styled matches. If the “character selection” screen is any indication, they have quite the catalog of characters to come, but first they choose to correct one of the most egregious mistakes.

The video is an enjoyable bit of filmmaking, and the fellas over at ismahawk obviously have a real love and understanding for Deadpool. Shouting bang while shooting his guns, worthy fighting capability, and even the WorldStarHipHop reference are all on-point for The Merc With The Mouth. It’s funny to see how easily different fan films, a rather recent video game, and now the new Deadpool movie have all been able to capture the character rather well. This, of course, makes one wonder how they managed to botch the character so badly the first time around.

Some will blame the writers, some will blame the director, some might blame 20th Century Fox, and others could blame Reynolds for juggling filming on three different movies at the same time. Whatever the case, we can at least rest easy knowing that, like ismahawk’s video, the real Deadpool wins out in the end, and the future will be a little more talkative.
