Hold Onto Your Butts: FANGIRLING is Back and Better Than Ever!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a wise woman once said: “Someone has to save our skins. Into the garbage chute, flyboy!” Ever since our patron saint Carrie Fisher uttered those words, women the universe over have been inspired to take charge in ways big and small, paving in-roads for all of us in pop culture and entertainment.

But why stop there? Why not create a whole entire web show about it?

And so Fangirling — the show for, by, and about the badass babes and non-binary bombshells of nerd culture — was born. And it premieres on January 24th!

For so long, fanboys have been the main arbiters of nerd culture—their whims and desires catered to, dictating how the conversations flow and, by default, what the audience ultimately gets. Well, no more! With Fangirling, we get to be the firestarters, talking the talk and walking the walk, saving pop culture from itself one broad stroke at a time.

Each Wednesday, Fangirling will burst forth from the mouth of the matriarchy (just kidding) and straight onto Alpha, to bring you new ways of thinking, feeling, and seeing the fandom stuff you know and love. Alicia Lutes (hey, that’s me!) and her rotating coven of pop culture witches are heading to the sets of your favorite movies and TV shows, hunting the ocean depths with documentary filmmakers, crafting favorite artists, talking down the news of the week, and yes, letting the boys have a say or two.

It’s like The Graham Norton Show became a sundae and was topped off with a dollop of Full Frontal with Samatha Bee-flavored whipped cream, all from a decidedly nerdy, female point of view.

Oh, and did we mention THE ONE AND ONLY Jen Bartel is doing the set design?

And if the first iteration of Fangirling‘s featured guests are any indication—with segments and interviews featuring Mackenzie Davis, Melanie Lynskey, Mara Wilson, Shannon Woodward, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tatiana Maslany, Eliza Taylor, Anne Foerster, and more—you know we’re in for a real treat.

So what are YOU fangirling about? Let us know on social (use the hashtag #FangirlingIsBack!) and get in on the conversation with me and some of your other favorite fangirls before the show returns on January 24th.
