Fan-Made 90s Era X-MEN Web Series Looks Phenomenal

Can this article serve as a hearty well-deserved handshake or bear hug to the creator of X-men: Danger Room Protocols? Scratching all the itches for early-90s X-Men nostalgia, this web series looks like it’ll be absolutely amazing.

Mixing just the right amounts of the 90s X-Men cartoon with the ever-so-near-and-dear-to-our-hearts 1992 Konami arcade cabinet game, Danger Room Protocols will be a web series featuring Professor X running his students two at a time through various training exercises in the Danger Room. Toward the end of the video, creator Joel Furtado explains his passion project was part love letter to Marvel and it’s evident he holds the source material in the highest esteem. Joel is such a die-hard fan in fact that he even cited Ron Wasserman for the original X-Men cartoon theme. Plus, we’re real glad he didn’t go with the Pryde of The X-men theme.

The first of 18 episodes will debut Tuesday, January 19, 2016 and subsequent episodes will follow every two weeks thereafter, and we absolutely cannot wait to see them. Using the Danger Room as a setting is perfect in our eyes since, as evidenced in the trailer, multiple settings and foes can be used. This setting also helps in not having to explain drawn out villainous plans so we can get right to the action.

If you’re anything like us and are staring at your calendar hoping a latent X-gene kicks in that allows you to speed up time, remember that you can still get your 90s X-Men fix with the entire classic arcade game on your Android or iOS phone for super cheap!

Are you as excited as we are for X-men: Danger Room Protocols? Let us know in the comments below!
