FALLOUT SHELTER to Finally Hit Android Devices Next Month

Prepare your thumbs everybody! That super cool mobile game Bethesda announced during their E3 press conference is finally coming to Android devices. Fallout Shelter, which released exclusively for iOS-based devices soon after its official reveal, is set to hit the Google Play store on August 13th and will include new features that will be available for both Android and iOS devices on launch. Oh, and it’s free, so there’s that.

If you (somehow) didn’t already know, Fallout Shelter is a post-nuclear war strategy game — similar to Tiny Tower – -that allows you to control an underground Vault full of dwellers. The aim of the game is to build the perfect Vault, oversee your dwellers, and protect them from the surrounding Wasteland.

With the new updates, players will also get Mr. Handy, which Bethesda describes as “the ultimate robotic companion” who can be used to collect resources inside your Vault. He can also be sent to the wasteland to collect loot, defend your Vault from both raiders and disasters, including all-new Deathclaw invasions and Molerat infestations. All of this additional content will be available the same day for both Android and iOS devices.

Considering how quickly the game sky-rocketed to the tops of charts and became the most downloaded game in a whopping 48 countries (not to mention the top downloaded app of any kind), I’d expect the success to carry over to Android. While a lot of this success is probably due to the name attached to it, the game was received well, and is just plain fun.

It’s certainly nice to have another Fallout-themed experience to keep us busy as we patiently anticipate Fallout 4’s November 10th release. Bethesda also recently revealed the Fallout Anthology, which is a nearly complete $50 PC collection of every Fallout game released. With Fallout Shelter launching on Android next month, and the limited edition collection releasing in September, we should have enough to hold us over.

Are you excited to finally get your hands on Fallout Shelter? What about the new updates? Let us know in the comments below.
