Explore the “Shaun of the Dead” Script Interactively

The Cornetto Trilogy is coming to an end. We’re all aware of this; it’s been in the cards for awhile. In fact, in the UK, it’s already over since the final chapter, The World’s End, has been out for a couple of weeks. As people here in North America are creeping up on their ability to see the latest from Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost, it’s fun to look back at where it all began, with the 2004 rom-zom-com, Shaun of the Dead. To commemorate the end of this cinematic era, Focus Features has put the complete Shaun script on its site in a full-color, photograph-heavy, and completely interactive form.

Speaking for myself, I’ve seen Shaun of the Dead probably a dozen or more times since my best friend and I traveled from our sleepy college town in Northern Colorado to the much bigger (yet still small by city standards) town 20 miles away to see the film in the theater. It’s a movie that spoke to me in a way that can almost not be quantified with mere words, but reading the screenplay takes me back to that very first screening, when all I knew of it was it was British, funny, and had zombies in it.

The script also has storyboards, sketches, and photographs from the production of the film and can be downloaded in its entirety as a PDF in case you don’t want to be online all the time. You know, if you live in the woods or something but still have electricity in your shanty.

Relive all the great moments in text form, from Ed’s initial use of the C-word to Shaun’s insistence that dogs can look up to killing the Queen. Before you watch The World’s End, read the zombie apocalypse, British-style.
