The upcoming animated series SuperMansion (from the creators of Robot Chicken, debuting October 8, 2015 on Crackle) is releasing a New York Comic-Con exclusive comic book! Oh, and did we mention the cover was done by none other than Rob Liefeld? Yes, just now. We just mentioned in that sentence. Anyways, drink this classic Liefeld art in.
SuperMansion will be a stop-motion series revolving around the day to day lives of superhero team “The League of Freedom” lead by Titanium Rex (voiced by Bryan Cranston), an aging superhero doing his best to deal with the more spry millennial superheroes of the modern age.
It seems fitting that Litchfield created the cover for a series that combines new and old heroes, since he was responsible for some of the more memorable comic book art of the 1990s. (Also, it’s great to see less pointy feet and no utility pouches whatsoever!)
“Titanium Rex struggles to live with and fight alongside the Millennial-aged, often lackadaisical members of The League of Freedom as they battle against arch-enemies and struggle to remain relevant in a world overcome with heroes.”
With by Cranston, Seth Green and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios at the helm, we can only imagine how entertaining the show will be. Even casual fans of Robot Chicken know that the sketches that really shine are those that pit superheroes in unlikely situations. Classic hero analogs and comic book tropes mixed together with risque Robot Chicken humor and the dulcet tones of Bryan Cranston? What’s not to love!?
Wait, did we say “imagine”? We meant “witness.” The first episode is currently available on Crackle right this minute. The comic book, on the other hand, is an NYCC exclusive that you’ll have to pick up this weekend if you’re attending. If you’re on hand for the con, make sure you swing by the SuperMansion NYCC panel Sunday, October 11 from 12:45PM – 1:45PM on the Main Stage, and the post-panel signing of Rob Liefeld’s comic book from 2:30PM – 3:30PM in the NYCC Autographic Area. Bryan Cranston, Seth Green, Tom Root, Matthew Senreich, Zeb Wells, and Rob Liefield will all be in attendance.
Hrmm…Â Dan Casey is there this week, maybe he’ll grab a few copies for the office.
