Exclusive: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS Launch Trailer

Cowabunga, dudes! Remember the halcyon days of arcade gaming circa 1991, when you and three friends embarked on a radical reptilian adventure through time and space in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time? Remember how good that pixelated pizza looked? Well, times have changed and graphics have improved, and now Activision and Red Fly Studio are back with a brand new 4-player co-op brawler, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, that is guaranteed to remember why you fell in love with the Heroes in a Half Shell in the first place, “Skipping Stones” notwithstanding. But before we go any further feast your eyes on the exclusive launch trailer, only on the Nerdist Channel:

Available today for XBLA and Steam (PC), Out of the Shadows offers up addictive, action-adventure gameplay in the vein of something Arkham City; That isn’t to say this is an open-world game, but rather how it controls and how the combat feels. Although the art style may evoke the TMNT Nickelodeon series, the game is definitely a love letter to older fans who have been feeling the Turtle Power since the Mirage Studios comic days. And if you don’t have three friends to keep you company, don’t worry — the story mode has all four turtles present at all times and makes switching on the fly a breeze. Keep your eyes peeled for our full review coming soon, and lest we ever forget, let’s take a gander at that one time that Raphael punched Hitler in the face. Cool, but rude indeed.

YEAH possible SPOILERS – Game looks amazing….movie looks mistaken. Too, too, too many liberties being taken.  Nobody every wants fresh and new, we want old good stuff, just improved which is possible. Original Eastman/Laird was EPIC!  The transition from the 80’s version of the turtles to the 90’s version was great. The “TURTLE’s FOREVER” movie should have been the last, last thing ever done – Super EPIC! The cycle was complete – but no – they had to mess with it. Transition  from the 90’s version to the 2000’s took a warped turn back into the 80’s version…and now they’ve mixed the 90’s look with the 80’s style with these creepy CGI half-human faces with a dark-haired overly sexy April O’Niel — and now they’re ALIENS!  And Now they’re purposely made. Like they did in the Spider-man remake. Ugh!  What a mess, IMO.

I’m really digging the visuals of this game. I was sorely disappointed by the lack of ability to invert the Y Axis, but it looks like there’s a way around this (at least for Xbox 360 peeps).

Admiring the time and effort you put into your website and detailed information you
provide. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same
unwanted rehashed information. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

  5. Patrick says:

Just bought the digital copy off Steam!!!

    Cowabunga!!!

  6. Allen says:

Really bummed out that there is no local 2 player co-op. :/

  7. omallystwin says:

Really not enjoying this game. and o really wanted to. apart from the fact that you can’t even un-invert the camera which fit me is a gave basket on its own, the combat feels clunky and unresponsive the AI is awful and the graphics are a bit pants. I will finish it… but I won’t enjoy it!

  8. Marius says:

Guys where can i download it?

  9. michaelalexkawa says:

This game looks Totally Awesome Dudes and Dudettes !!!!

  10. Sinni says:

Anyone figured out whether you can invert the y axis in this game? Just downloaded it but can’t figure it out!!

  11. Richard says:

And what do you know. They are still Turtles and NOT Aliens.
Let’s hope the movie people figure this out or else they will have
another Lone Ranger on their hands, cause I know I won’t be
    seeing it.

  12. Dan says:

    Raph was crude not rude.

  13. Ian says:

Turtles DO have nostrils though…. how else could they snort in derision at the Foot?

  14. Shannon says:

“skipping stones” ? is that a reference to the TMNT music cassette tape put out by Pizza Hut way back in the dark ages? Pizza Hut used to be really cool, and Turtles will always be awesome! Even if Michael bay tries to ruin the shit out of them

  15. Awesome. I hope Vanilla Ice makes an appearance somewhere in the game.

  16. Kev W says:

The game looks fun but Ninja Turtles with nostrils looks all kinds of wrong.

  17. tj says:

great article. I absolutely love the Turtles and have been waiting for this game since the teaser first appeared on my Xbox dashboard…but it doesn’t come out until tomorrow, the 28th.
