Black Mask Studios has been making quite a name for themselves lately, with excellent books like We Can Never Go Home and Godkiller, and Transference is the latest high concept series debuting from the publisher this year. Writer Michael Moreci (Image’s Roche Limit, BOOM!’s Burning Fields) and artist Ron Salas (Prince Valiant from Dynamite, Existence 2.0 from Image) have teamed up to bring an all-new new science fiction thriller to shelves. Transference is best described as a spy story that breaks all the rules; it’s a time travel story with a twist, and one of the most innovative and exciting new comics coming to shelves this year. Sounds a bit like Jason Bourne meets Looper, which sounds like a pretty sweet mash-up.
Here’s the official description for the first issue from Black Mask Studios:
“Colton Moss and his elite team of special agents run counter-terrorism operations utilizing a secret form of time travel technology called ‘transference,’Â which enables them to send their consciousnesses back in time – but, when Colton’s past is altered to reshape his life in the present, he discovers this technology isn’t as exclusive as he thought. Now Colton must prevent a large-scale insurgency in the U.S. – and do so in the transference-past, where a terrorist’s consciousness could be in any body, so everybody is a potential suspect.”
