Last week it was announced that production had begun and casting was official on the new Cinemax exorcism drama Outcast based on the Robert Kirkman comic book of the same name. The show will have a ten episode premiere season with a pilot directed by The Guest‘s Adam Wingard. In addition to Patrick Fugit, who plays the series’ protagonist Kyle Barnes, Deadline reports that “David Denman (13 Hours), Melinda McGraw (Mad Men), Grace Zabriskie (The Killing), Catherine Dent (The Shield), Lee Tergesen (The Americans) and Brent Spiner” have joined the series.

Speaking from the set in South Carolina, showrunner Chris Black told Nerdist exclusively, “We are thrilled to begin production on Outcast. We have a wonderful team of people who are all committed to telling our story with passion. We can’t wait to give Robert’s fans of the comics series a deeper look into the story of Kyle Barnes.”

Black continued, adding, “Fans of the comics will love the TV show. It’s the story they know, but the TV show will have twists and turns that will be new.”

For those unfamiliar with the basic premise of the show, Outcast follows Kyle Barnes (Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.

In case you missed it, Jessica Chobot sat down with Patrick Fugit and costar Wrenn Schmidt, who plays Barnes’ adopted sister, on the Conival stage. Watch their interview now!

Outcast premieres on Cinemax in 2016!
