Writer Brian Wood and artist Riccardo Burchielli’s DMZ wrapped its seventy-two issue run more than two years ago, but its tale of a New York City torn apart by a second American Civil War sadly remains more relevant than ever. This week (on Wednesday, June 11), DC Comics is releasing the second hardcover volume collecting the Vertigo series — DMZ Deluxe Edition Book 2. Like all of DC’s Deluxe Editions, it’s packed full of enough conceptual art, character sketches, and other assorted extras to placate even the most rabid of fans.
Here’s the official synopsis from DC: “In these stories from DMZ #13-28, Matty heads undercover to infiltrate a terrorist cell, interviews an enlisted U.S. soldier whoâs found guilty of a massacre, and turns his attention to several locals: a guerilla artist, a former ally whoâs now worse off than a homeless person, and the powerful head of an organization within the DMZ.”
