The Raven may have quoth “Nevermore, nevermore”, but when Edgar Allen Poe tries to take down the Dark Knight, the Bat might have a word or two with that pesky Raven. Such is the conceit of the latest edition of DC Comics’Â Legends of the Dark Knight, which the publisher has revived by popular demand for a five chapter story. Written by Ron Marz and illustrated Cully Hamner, “Nevermore” finds a man calling himself “Edgar”, who bears a striking resemblance to a certain tubercular literary maven, poking around Arkham Asylum, trying to find out what happened to Batman’s body. What ensues is a tense game of Bat and Mouse in which the madman manages to get the drop on both Batman and Catwoman. Who knew we’d be going this far into Gotham City’s telltale heart of darkness?
The latest chapter is available tomorrow across digital platforms, but we have your exclusive first look at the second installment of “Nevermore” in a preview courtesy of DC Comics. Pro-tip: whenever anyone talks about breaking out a cask of amontillado, run.
Here’s the official description: “‘Edgar’ continues his claim to have killed Batmanâhis recount reveals Batman and Catwoman in a pit, and a pendulum that countsâ¦as its blade swings untimely closer and closer down to her⦠‘Nevermore’ part 2 of 3.”
