Exclusive: Eli Roth’s THE GREEN INFERNO Poster Debut

Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno looks to do for social media activists (or, as its synopsis calls them, those who practice “slacktivism”) what the director’s Hostel films did for tourists: scare the living bejesus out of them with a blood-soaked tale of strangers in a strange land. This time around, Roth has focused his story on a gang of college student do-gooders in New York who journey to the Amazon rainforests to save an indigenous tribe, only to have their plane crash. Judging by the film’s latest poster—which we’re exclusively debuting today—things don’t go all that well for our heroes’ humanitarian efforts..

The Green Inferno

Starring Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martínez, Aaron Burns, Ignacia Allamand, Ramón Llao, and Richard Burgi, The Green Inferno is the first feature film Eli Roth has directed since Hostel: Part II. It’s co-written by Roth and Guillermo Amoedo (with whom the director co-wrote the 2012 Chilean-American disaster film Aftershock, in which Roth starred), and executive produced by horror mogul Jason Blum.

The Green Inferno looks to be very much in the tradition of one of Roth’s favorite horror movies, Ruggero Deodato’s infamous 1985 shocker Cannibal Holocaust, which featured a film-within-the-film called The Green Inferno. Shot entirely on location in Chile, the Peruvian Amazon, and New York City, the Blumhouse/Universal/High Top release, after debuting via a secret screening at April’s Stanley Film Festival, opens in theaters everywhere on September 25th.
