Exclusive: DC Comics’ BATMAN ETERNAL #48 Preview

It’s the beginning of the end for Batman Eternal, DC Comics’ weekly Batman series that saw Jim Gordon accused of causing the deaths of more than a hundred people. As the mystery has unraveled over the course of the past year, we’ve seen more twists and turns than the hedge maze from The Shining. Naturally, things are coming to a head as Gotham City burns and time begins to run out for our heroes.

Before you pick up issue #48 this Wednesday, we have an exclusive preview for you courtesy of DC Comics. Written by Ray Fawkes, James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder, Tim Seeley, and Kyle Higgins, with art by Fernando Blanco, Batman Eternal #48 finds the Penguin getting a mysterious phone call in his prison cell and a desperate last-ditch effort by Jason Bard to make the case for Gordon’s innocence. Unfortunately, nothing in Gotham is ever as simple as it seems, and this preview offers a first look at the spark that could finally make this powder keg explode once and for all.

  1. Rachel says:

I’m a bit confused. Mayor Hardy says he won’t save Gordon because it’s an election year and he doesn’t want to lose the favor of Gotham, but he turns right abound and says Gotham is too dangerous and he’s abandoning it? Not a move for someone who wants to be re-elected. This would only make sense if the panels weren’t sequential and something occurs in the middle of this preview.
