There’s nothing sadder than a fish out of water, and Abe Sapien’s time in Texas has been fraught with sadness, introspection, peril, and plenty of time for contemplation. The tragic thing about Abe Sapien is that even though Abe finds himself living in a strange, peaceful town on the Texas Gulf Coast, he cannot enjoy the quietude. Houston has quite literally turned into hell on Earth, and Abe won’t be able to rest until he has saved the day and, perhaps, himself. In Dark Horse Comics’ Abe Sapien #19, written by Mike Mignola and Scott Allie, illustrated by Sebastian Fiumara, and colored by Dave Stewart, our hero tries to do exactly that.
Speaking about the issue, writer Scott Allie told us, “Abe is living with a small Santa Muerte cult in a small town on the Texas Gulf Coast. This is the closest Abeâs gotten to Houston, the epicenter of the apocalyptic events in the States. The town theyâre in seems to be safe, but Abe and Dayana are starting to suspect that thereâs something suspicious behind the fact that itâs safe.”
