If you saw Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty last year, the exciting visuality at the core of the film’s storytelling was no doubt a highpoint. And likely, too, is your appreciation of the fight between Stiller’s Walter and Adam Scott’s smarmy Ted. Now, thanks to this exclusive clip from the film to celebrate its DVD/Blu-Ray release, you can see how the Stretch Armstrong-fueled battle actually came to be.
In order to fully bring Stiller’s directorial take on the James Thurber story to life, the team behind the daydreamy special effects used a computerized template to fully visualize Walter’s world. And thanks to those kind folks, we now have a glimpse at what an early version of that fight looked like. For cinephiles and technical geeks alike, it’s a fun behind-the-scenes glimpse at what it takes to create a world as wily and wonderful as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty‘s. For the rest of us it’s fun to see what a computerized take on Stiller and Scott looks like. Either way, consider your daydreams terribly insufficient.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty comes to DVD/Blu-Ray on April 15th. What’d you think of the clip? Let us know in the comments.
Wow, that is way more Matrixy than the final result, in a good way.
