After announcing the free DLC program back in November, and launching the full game three months ago, all 16 bits of free The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC that was promised is finally available for download on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The New Game + mode, which was announced three weeks ago, released on PC and Xbox One August 17, and on PS4 yesterday, August 18.
CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin IwiÅski stated, “I’d like to extend my thanks to all the gamers who played our game and gave these DLCs a try. Nothing makes a developer happier than seeing gamers have fun with what they created.”
IwiÅski continued, “I would really like to see such initiatives become an industry standard rather than an exception to the general rule, and I hope that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has set a good example.”
In the midst of paid DLC, microtransactions and the like, IwiÅski made a statement last November by releasing an open letter to fans detailing the program and expressing CD Projekt Red’s distaste for the unfortunate trend we’ve been seeing in the industry.
Though the free DLC has been completely rolled out, the developer still has two large expansions on the way. They revealed back in April that we’d be getting one called Hearts and Stone sometime this October, whereas Blood and Wine is slated for an early 2016 release. You’ll have to pay for these two, but judging by previous statements, they’ve worked hard to make it worth the price of entry.
