Back towards the end of 2016, we reported on the real-life implications of the booby traps from Home Alone. The conclusion was that Harry and Marv wouldn’t be bounced around like Wile E. Coyote to Kevin McCallister’s Road Runner. They’d be dead. As in “Please make the pain stop!” dead. That’s movie magic for you, we guess. But The Flippist has gone ahead and helped us think less about real humans getting maimed, instead giving the traps of Home Alone a cartoon rendition it so greatly deserves. And they did it via flip book!
Using six books in total, Flippist recreated almost the entire third act of the movie in 48 seconds. Sure, we didn’t get to see Kevin’s eventual reunion with his family, but we got to see Marv put his foot through a nail and Harry light his entire head on fire. Serves them right for trying to rob an innocent kid.
A little time and a little patience are all it takes for someone’s creativity to take over and make something really cool. The Flippist definitely had a plethora of both of those. The time it took to draw every page compared to the 48-second result also proves that it’s about the journey, not the destination.
You can see more of the Flippist’s creations on their YouTube channel here.
So what do you think? Are there any other classic movie moments that would benefit from a flip book treatment? Let us know on Facebook or sound off in the comments below.
