You can fight the Dark Lord, you can battle Death Eaters, you can win the Triwizard Tournament, you can even survive the Killing Curse (twice!), but it doesnât mean you canât fall prey to the green-eyed monster.
The first images of Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, from the upcoming Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, showed a stylish wizard in a beautiful and flashy coat that would be the envy of any muggle or wizard, including the worldâs most famous wizard, Harry Potter himself.
In an interview with NME, Daniel Radcliffe was shown the first images from the movie, and he didnât hide his jealousy. âOh f**k you, Eddie, in your brilliant costume. I got jeans and a zip top for 10 years and youâve got a great coat already?â said Radcliffe. Heâs not wrong. I mean, whatâs the best costume piece he got to wear over the course of eight films? He was really just in a nice bathrobe. Even I own one of those.
Meanwhile, Redmayne is walking around in a coat that would make Joseph himself reconsider his Technicolor attire.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will open next year, and is based on J.K. Rowlingâs book (âwrittenâ by Newt Scamander) of the same name. The book is just an encyclopedia of magical animals, but the film will tell the story of Newt coming to America and what happens when his collection of animals get free.
And heâll be wearing an awesome coat while looking for them.
