Earlier this week, we took one small step for t-shirts and one giant leap for Nerdist-kind by unveiling our first official t-shirt in partnership with Her Universe and Hot Topic, and we teased you with the promise of a contest. A contest so magnificent that bards will tell of it in song for ages to come. Well, it’s Pi Day and our Pi-themed shirts are available for purchase, so now we can enter into phase two of our master plan: giving away supremely cool stuff to you, the reader, through an irrational Pi Day contest. Why should you enter? Well, I can think of 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510582 reasons. Actually I can think of one huge reason: you’ll win an all-expenses-paid trip for 2 to San Diego Comic-Con (plus a slew of other goodies)!
Like any good nerd, you’re probably asking yourself, “But wait, what are the rules?” Ask and ye shall receive:
1. Sign up for Instagram if you havenât already.
2. Follow Nerdist, Her Universe, and Hot Topic.
3. Make a 15 second or less video about Pi. It’s a a broad prompt, we know, but it could be anything from eating a whole pie to pieing someone in the face to explaining succinctly what Pi means to creating a Pi cosplay to literally anything else you can think of.
4. Post your video to Instagram and hashtag it #BeIrrational.
And, voila, you’re done! Like most good things, this contest too must come to an end. You have from Pi Day (today, March 14th) until the end of the month and entrants will be judged by Chris, Ashley Eckstein, and Hot Topic. The winner will be announced in early May and will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to SDCC for two: This includes flight, hotel, badges, tickets to a super secret event that hasnât been announced yet, and tickets to the Nerdist Podcast Live at the Balboa Theater. Not bad for 15 seconds, right? You must be 13 years of age or older and be a resident of the United States to enter.
Need some inspiration? Our fearless leader Chris Hardwick took it upon himself to whip up this little number to serve as your inspiration:
For full contest rules and information, please visit Hot Topicâs Pi Day page. In the meantime, start thinking irrationally may your creativity be as boundless as the digits of Pi itself. And, while you’re at it, why not snag yourself a t-shirt too? They’re super comfortable — scout’s honor.
