Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just one week away. While you may already have tickets for your family and friends, you simply canât see the movie without Groot. Toys might get lost in a dark theater and bringing plants to a movie isnât the norm, so I give you the next best thingâa sweet sapling sidekick!
To make your own sugary shrub, grab some Tootsie Rolls and shape them into an edible sentient tree. Not only will you have an adorable theater companion, but youâll have a delicious morsel to snack on while you watch the flick. Donât worry about eating Groot–heâs nothing if not selfless when it comes to your hunger. (Plus, as you know, he’ll grow back.)
Check out Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in theaters, May 5th!
Grootsie Rolls
Ingredients:
-1 (2.5 ounce) Tootsie Roll
-Matcha powder
-Black icing
-White icing
Take 3/4 of the Tootsie Roll and form it into a log shape, then roll it to add twists to resemble the base of a tree. Fold down the top 2 inches to form Grootâs head.
Use a knife to cut slits into the top to create his hair pieces.
Form two arms with the remaining Tootsie Roll. Cut slits into the ends to form fingers, then press the arms into the body.
With the back of the knife, add texture to the face area.
Using a #2 tip, pipe black icing for the eyes and mouth. Add white to the pupils for a highlight.
Add matcha powder to the top of the head with a clean kitchen brush.
Keep your Groot as is, or place him in a small pot filled with chocolates.
Let us know how your own candy Groot comes out!
