Ellen Degeneres and Carrie Fisher Took to the Street to Sell STAR WARS Tickets

Have your ticket for opening night of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? How did you get yours? Did you buy them online weeks ago? Did you get them on the secondary market? Or did you just happen to purchase yours from Ellen DeGeneres and Carrie Fisher on a street corner?

Fisher was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss the release of The Force Awakens, and the two discussed the popularity of the films and aging (“Years of living longer makes you look worse, who knew about that?” said our favorite galactic princess), but it was their adventure to the street to “sell” Star Wars tickets for the opening night of the movie that was the real highlight.

Sporting Princess Leia‘s iconic hair buns from the original 1977 film, the duo held signs and tried to attract passing motorists in an attempt to sell tickets to raise money for a “charity” for “animals with mental illness.” (Though they said they will pick a real one.)

Ellen said the opening night tickets were going for $500, but she was willing to barter two tickets to one passing motorist in exchange for a blouse. “It pays to be a hoarder,” said Ellen.

“Is this real?” asked the woman. It most certainly was.

After a while of slow going, plenty of cars started to stop, and to no one’s surprise Ellen was ready to start being very generous. Carrie Fisher, on the other hand, still wanted something in exchange for the hottest ticket in town.

“Just let them have it,” said Ellen.

“I want ten dollars,” replied Fisher.

When you are Princess Leia, and a “fan” doesn’t recognize you, no one can blame you for not being in a very giving mood. Which is how you end up punishing the guy randomly carrying a lightsaber by making him do a handstand while singing the Star Wars theme.

At least she didn’t call him a scruffy-looking nerf herder.
