Edward James Olmos is Joining AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Start spreading the news, boys and girls, because the fandoms WILL collide when Selena’s dad guest stars on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D! Oh, I’m sorry, would you have preferred I reference his character on Battlestar Galactica instead? Guess that would’ve made more sense. (Editor’s Note: Yes, <3 BSG forever.) Oh well! Too bad: everyone else writing about this news on the Internet already has made that connection, so I decided to be a bit more original.

Anywho! According to Marvel, Admiral William Adama will not just guest star on the series, he’s set to recur as a shadow-y sounding character called Robert Gonzales. And his existence is not necessarily a welcome one, as Marvel has stated in their press release that Gonzales has “massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.” So, basically, get ready for hella intrigue and — very likely — a verbal tet-a-tet between he and Coulson. Because let’s be real — you don’t hire Edward James Olmos for a minor character of little note. You hire him to bring the intensity and gravitas to any and every situation. That, opposite Clark Gregg? It feels safe to assume it’ll conjure up some pure TV magic.

Now we just have to figure out who his character may be! Will he have a connection to Hydra? Something else entirely? We have so many questions and absolutely zero answers.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on Tuesday, March 3rd — after Agent Carter ends, sniff sniff — at 9:00 PM on ABC

What do you think Olmos’ SHIELD character will get up to? Let us know your theories in the comments.
