Yesterday, we told you about a new Indiegogo campaign that Peter Bogdanovich, Frank Marshall, and others want to raise $2 million by the middle of June to help complete Orson Welles‘ final film, The Other Side of the Wind. He began the film in 1970, shot for the next 7 years, and then had to abandon it entirely. He was never able to finish editing due to legal problems, some of which stemmed from funding from the Shah of Iran’s regime and led to the impounding of the negative by Ayatollah Khomeini’s government. It’s a hectic and weird story.
But, we aren’t the only ones who desperately want to see Orson Welles’ final film put together properly! Writer, director and geek icon Edgar Wright thinks so, too. The beloved filmmaker shares some of his thought on the matter in the above exclusive video, sent out to supporters of the campaign today. Welles would have been 100 this year, and as Wright says, let’s not wait another hundred years to see his final movie. Welles sadly had 15 incomplete or aborted film projects in his career — let’s try to make one of them happen for real.
