Ed Helms and the VACATION Cast on Reviving a Franchise and the Nazi Button

If you’ve seen the newest entry in the Vacation franchise, then you likely left the theater with one question in your mind. No, not “will they recast Ed Helms in Vacation 2?” or “Why does Chevy Chase look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man cosplaying as Chevy Chase?” Rather, what does that button on the Tartan Prancer’s keychain do? For those not in the know, the Tartan Prancer is the finest automobile to come out of Albania and is what the Griswold family winds up renting in order to transport them across the country on their ill-fated trip to Walley World.

The Prancer’s keychain comes with an assortment of baffling features like a button that turns the driver’s seat around to face the rear passengers and one that explodes all the windows. You know, standard features. But there was one button that was never pushed, one featuring an ominous-looking swastika. But what does it do? Being the curious soul that I am, I simply had to know. So when I sat down to chat with Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Skyler Gisondo, Steele Stebbins, and writer-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, I asked them. Of course, we talked about the movie too, but come on — don’t you want to know what that damn Nazi button does?

And when you’re driving in your very own Tartan Prancer, you’re gonna need tunes, right? Our music editor Matt Grosinger sat down with Ed Helms on an episode of Celebrity Playlist.

What do you think the Nazi button does? Share your theories with us in the comments below.
