E3 2013: First Look at “The Walking Dead: 400 Days”

Just as I finally recovered from the emotional blow of Telltale’s insanely good The Walking Dead: Season One and dried my tears, my eyeball aqueducts opened anew thanks to Game of Thrones‘ aptly named “Red Wedding.” Now, just as the wounds Game of Thrones left in my heart were about to heal, Telltale breaks it again by announcing a new DLC for The Walking Dead. Wait, what? Scratch that – this is the best news I’ve heard all day. Originally, we’d all thought we’d have to wait until the fall to sink our teeth (pun intended) into a juicy new episode of the storied adventure game. Fortunately, Christmas came early and Undead Santa brought this new trailer featuring 5 brand new characters.

And just for good measure, here’s the press release:

Available this summer, The Walking Dead: 400 Days will be available for purchase on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation Network, as an in-app purchase for compatible iOS devices, and on PC and Mac from the Telltale Online Store and other digital outlets.

The Walking Dead: 400 Days chronicles the horrific aftermath of the undead outbreak through the eyes of five new characters as they struggle to survive the first 400 days of the apocalypse. Playable in any order, the five connected short stories are centered in and around a Georgia truck stop, where players will be thrust into horrifying situations that will test their morals and control the flow of the story through their decisions and actions.

The Walking Dead: Season One is coming to the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system and will include The Walking Dead: 400 Days. Featuring hybrid touch controls unique to PS Vita, fans can now take the apocalypse on the road and enjoy the entirety of Season One in one package.”

“HELLO HERMAN is the type of movie that Hollywood rarely makes, but should make more often… Powerful film… Garrett Backstrom and Norman Reedus are both brilliant in their roles.”

  4. Donovan says:

I’m thrilled for the 2nd season.
But I bet, it will end at the same place the first season did, just from the opposite direction.
I’m afraid, i have to wait until season 3 to see what will happen with Clem… Anyway, it’s an awesome game, on par with the 1st season of the TWD TV-series. I can only hope the game won’t go downhill like the show did/does. No offense, Chris

  5. John says:

The original was awesome, and I have nothing but high hopes for the follow-up.

  6. Sarah G. says:

I’m beyond excited for this!! I really do hope that Clementine, Christi, and Omid make a slight cameo, however. I’m excited to see the new characters, and I hope that we can bond as tight with them and get as emotionally attached as the other previous cast from TWD Season 1. It has such expectations and potential, and I can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with. I hope to God it’s either as good or even better than it’s predecessor. (: CAN’T WAIT!!!!!

  7. Barry says:

SO stoked! The first five episodes of the season left me wanting for more. I cannot wait to play. I haven’t ha as much fun with ANY other recent game except Skyrim. And the ending to the last episode had me emotionally tore up! This is great news. Thanks!

  8. Joshua Lingel says:

Honestly, how could you not be excited for more Walking Dead? That would be like asking someone if they were excited for more breathing. Of course I’m excited. It is even more awesome that we are actually getting more Walking Dead before getting… more… Walking Dead. Like the funny commercials with the kids say “more is better”. Especially in the case of more Telltale Walking Dead games!
