Oooh, boy. I can only imagine what you folks are gonna say about this one… You know how we all love Dwayne Johnson in the Fast & Furious movies? Do you remember how we were thrilled by the idea of him playing Black Adam in the Shazam movie? And do you recall how cool it was when the Rock was announced as the voice of the Polynesian god Maui in Disney’s upcoming Moana? Hell, how about his recent job hosting Saturday Night Live? That was great, wasn’t it?! Okay, try to keep all that in mind as you’re reaching for your pieces of fruit. Because we just learned that Samoan Thor is in talks to star in a remake of director John Carpenter’s immortal ’80s kung-fu-ghost-comedy Big Trouble in Little China.
There’s no official word yet that Johnson would play wisecracking trucker Jack Burton, the role forever linked to man-god Kurt Russell, but it seems unlikely that the Rock would choose to play the villainous Lo Pan or one of his three Storms. Of course, there’s always the off chance he’ll play Wang Chi, which would allow him to kick more physical ass if this remake stays close to the original.
In any case, the red-hot Johnson — whose San Andreas grossed fifty-four million dollars at the U.S. box-office this weekend — will produce the new Big Trouble, which is being written by Thor and X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
Okay, now let’s throw that fruit… Or am I mistaken and you all actually love this idea? Let us know below!
