Last year, director Duncan Jones brought Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise to movie theaters and it quickly became the highest grossing film based on a video game…just not in this country. Internationally, Warcraft took in $220 million from China alone on the way to a $433 million worldwide take. However, since the film only brought in $47 million domestically, a sequel to Warcraft is far from certain. But Jones hasn’t given up on the franchise yet!
Via ComicBook.com, Jones used his twitter account to acknowledge that the first Warcraft movie served too many plot threads and may have lacked focus. However, that didn’t stop Jones from sharing some of his plans for the Orcs and the Alliance in the potential sequel.
@Jow3h Would have been in film 2, if it were to happen.

@Jow3h With the orcs now in Azeroth, they learn about armor making in this new world.

@Jow3h Also would have seen Dalaran LAND in the Alterac mountains & magic proliferate as Kirin Tor try to be more open after death of Llane.

@Jow3h Main orc focus would have been Go’el’s imprisonment & violent bid for freedom.

@DreamwolfKima @Jow3h Don’t want to give too much away, as who knows… but Khadgar unleashing Pandora’s Box, Lothar arc, Varian.

Of course, we would love to see Warcraft 2 happen at some point. The universe of the game has such a rich mythology and unique collection of characters that it would be unfortunate if audiences won’t get the chance to experience it on the big screen. The sequel may be out of reach at the moment, but we’re hopeful that Warcraft will eventually return with a new cinematic adventure.
