DUCKTALES Reboot Teaser, STAR WARS REBELS in Rogue One, and More TV News

It’s time to put a little woo-ooo in your morning with a brief tease for the new version of DuckTales. And that’s not the only thing in today’s TV-Cap. I also have a new trailer for The Expanse, a possible Star Wars Rebels and Rogue One connection, and more.

Danger Lurks! Fans of DuckTales are hyped about returning to Duckburg with Disney XD’s 2017 revival, and some new art and a teaser are going to fan the flames. The image features a revamped Launchpad McQuack and also Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck, and more. The teaser is only 15 seconds and doesn’t show much, but it does squeeze in Donald and the classic woo-ooo. Is it time for more yet? [CBR]

Roll a Heist. Alert: There’s a Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game and it’s available for holiday gifts. The quick-play game from Steve Jackson Games features Batman dice and villain tokens, and I”m into it just for the art. Order from SJ Games. [Image: SJ Games]

VR First. Interested in the possibility of Westworld happening for real in our future? Matthew speculates that the park is likely to happen in VR first. Read his thoughts and speculation on the topic here at Nerdist.

Set Your Channel to Toonami. Adult Swim’s Toonami has landed the English dub of the new Dragon Ball Super is coming on January 7. According to the release, it’s “the first new storyline in more than 18 years from original creator Akira Toriyama and the Dragon Ball franchise.” In other words, it’s a big deal. Season one of Dragon Ball Super will have 26 episodes. The sneak peek above is all about questionable food items–which is just up my alley.

Game to Screen. Makers of television and film are looking all over for inspiration, from books to video games. Two recent titles on the list of possibilities are Sega’s Altered Beast and Streets of Rage. Sega is working with Circle of Confusion and Stories International to transition the titles to film or television. Read more here at Nerdist.

Glitz and Beads. Z: The Beginning of Everything made it through Amazon pilot season to get picked up for a full series, and it premieres on January 27. The show focuses on the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, played by Christina Ricci. She’s a fascinating character, and you can get a taste of that in the above trailer for the drama set in 1918.

De-Throned. The CW is canceling Reign. The upcoming fourth season will be the final one for the period drama. [TVLine]

Back in the Saddle. Are you ready to go back on the convention circuit with Wray Nerely and Jack? Good because the second season of Con Man has arrived to Comic-Con HQ and you can watch the season two premiere above without subscribing to the service. [Nerdist]

Animated to Live-Action. A new TV spot (number 26 in case you’re counting) for Rogue One appears to feature a familiar ship: the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels. Eagle-eyed fans spotted the ship at about :07 in the above promo. Including the ship would be a nice nod to the animated series, and it’s nice to know Hera and some of her crew are presumably around for a few more years (Rebels is currently about three years from A New Hope, while Rogue One is much closer). Or maybe it’s a coincidence and it’s a similar ship? Fingers crossed for some comm chatter that mentions their code name of Spectre. [Nerdist]

Following the Dream. Syfy’s The Expanse is high on my to-watch list, and I’m itching to catch up before the second season. I mean, just watch the above trailer–the production design, the intensity, the stakes–I’m intrigued. Season two will arrive on February 1.

Vigilantes to Vikings. Arrow aired its midseason finale last night; read Sydney’s recap. Then, for something completely different, read Jessica’s recap of Vikings.

Do you think that’s the Ghost in the Rogue One ad or just a similar ship? Tell me your thoughts in the comments.
