DreamWorks Animation showed up to WonderCon in Anaheim, CA this weekend to divulge information on their upcoming Netflix exclusive TV projects. Among the titles discussed were The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Turbo FAST,  Dinotrux, and Dragons: Race to the Edge. Since we know many of you are eager to learn more about these series, especially the one based on the studio’s How to Train Your Dragon series, we’re here to give you all the juicy details we gleaned from the panel.

Kicking off the panel was host Eric Bauza (voice of Puss in Boots in the Adventures of Puss in Boots and Chet in Turbo Fast) who was joined by head of programming for DreamWorks TV Kelly Kulchak. The company showed fun-filled footage from Turbo Fast, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, and All Hail King Julien. 

Next up on the WonderCon agenda was their upcoming series Dinotrux. While we still don’t know much about the show, we do know that it will involve dinosaurs and trucks (obviously). According to Kulchak, Dinotrux “has action, comedy, and drama.” Check out the teaser image below.

The main event, however, was when DreamWorks premiered footage of Dragons: Race to the Edge. After a well-deserved uproar of cheers, series producers and showrunners Art Brown and Douglas Sloan hit the stage to discuss the show.

According to the panel, the first 13 of 26 episodes will premiere in June. If you’re familiar with their other shows, you’ll know this is a step up from how they’ve been releasing episodes. Also, like Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk, Race to the Edge will cover the five year gap between the first and second How to Train Your Dragon films. The main difference, however, is that Race to the Edge will take place a year before the events in the second entry. This means we’ll be seeing what Hiccup and co were up to when they were 18/19 years old.

Speaking of Hiccup and his friends, it was confirmed that Jay Baruchel, T.J. Miller, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and America Ferrera will all be reprising their roles as Hiccup, Tuffnut, Fishlegs Ingerman and Astrid Hofferson, respectively. As for whether Zack Pearlman, Andree Vermeulen, Nolan North and Chris Edgerly will reprise their roles as well, that’s yet to be confirmed.

Brown and Sloan then went on to tease that the new epic adventure will feature “more dragons than anyone has ever imagined.” The Deathsong is one of those brand new dragons that will be joining the show. As a special gift for panel attendees, DreamWorks handed out the below artwork of the ferocious Deathsong.

In addition to new dragons, fans will also be seeing a new artifact called the “dragon eye” added to the series mythology. The object, Brown noted, “is a game-changer, both for Hiccup and for all of the Dragon Riders.”

While many questions as to who the villains will be, whether characters will be returning or more details about the story have been raised after the showcase, we won’t have to wait long to find out–the series’ June premiere is just around the corner.
