Don’t Get Cocky Against This DIY TIE Fighter Drone

Oliver C., the Jedi of radio-controlled drones, is back and it appears he may have given himself to the Dark Side with his new TIE fighter drone.

Wowing even the scruffiest of nerf herders, Oliver’s previous build of a Millenium Falcon Drone knocked the collective socks off Star Wars and RC enthusiasts alike. This time around, it seems the Empire has gotten to him and had a ship of their own commissioned in order to hunt down Han and Chewie.

Behold the DIY TIE Interceptor’s maiden voyage in all its imperial glory:

Utilizing his custom-built “Prophecy 335″ quad-copter, Oliver fashioned the “skin,” as he calls it, from lightweight foam insulation in the iconic black and gray of the Empire. We don’t know about you, but we just can’t help but hear “The Imperial March” in our heads the moment this thing leaves the ground.

Check out Oliver’s blog over at his RCGroups page where there are step by step instructions on the Falcon and TIE fighter build. We’re hoping his next few projects will be an X-wing, Vader’s TIE fighter, and a scale model of the Death Star so we can all marvel at a reenactment of Luke’s trench run. You hear us Oliver?! Stock up on foam core & glue guns and get to work! We’ve got a rebellion to win!

What do you think of Oliver’s latest Star Wars DIY? What would you dream drone be? Let us know in the comments.
