Even if Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford says Borderlands 3 isn’t actively under development, GamePointsNow is reporting that another game in the franchise is happening.
GamePointsNow is claiming that Borderlands: The Pre-Squel is under development for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, with a story set in the five years between the first and second games. Set on the moons of Pandora, The Pre-Sequel will follow Borderlands 2 villain Handsome Jack before he went bad, as he chases down an ancient alien artifact.
Handsome Jack – or John, as he’s known here – would be accompanied by Athena The Gladiator, Wilhelm The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer, and Fragtrap, “a militarised claptrap,” according to the post.
The Pre-Sequel is supposed to include new weapons such as a freeze ray, as well as equipment like jetpacks in order to get around in on the moon’s reduced gravity. Players would also have to monitor their oxygen, which can be looted from enemies.
According to the article, The Pre-Sequel is being developed at Canberra-based 2K Australia, the studio which recently provided support to BioShock Infinite‘s campaign.
For class ideas they should have a siren, hyperian rebel, biker, and hyperian loader.
Its not a prequel, and its not a sequel. It’s a Pre-Sequal!
You’re killing me smalls! Just make Borderlands 3 for the new consoles already! And put a wiggle in it!
I did not like Borderlands 1, I loved Borderlands 2 playing co op with family and friends. I know details are scarce, but I never liked prequels. New items like jet packs and freeze guns, I’m assuming that works like Sub Zero’s freeze attack. I am calling it here now that I bet there will be a harpoon gun that spears enemy bodies then reels them into a bed of spikes, or a Bionic Commando style accessories with grapling hooks to swing around the sandbox.
