DOCTOR WHO Gets into ‘Dark Water’ with Pics and Teaser for Finale

What a quick ten weeks its been. It seems like we were just ushering in Doctor Who‘s 8th Series, the first to star Peter Capaldi, and now we’re looking forward to part one of the two-episode finale. How time and space does fly. Do fly. Anyway. The first episode of the finale, entitled “Dark Water,” has been written by showrunner Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay, an American woman director. She’s certainly the first American to direct the show (she has dual citizenship) and only the 7th woman to direct ever (Sheree Folkson who directed last week’s “In the Forest of the Night” is technically the 8th because Talalay’s two episodes were done earlier).

We have a new teaser for the episode, as well as a gallery which raise more questions than they answer. We know that this episode will see the Doctor confront Missy (Michelle Gomez), the mysterious Keeper of the Nethersphere, and referred to in passing as some kind of deity, and Cybermen have returned to St. Paul’s Cathedral, which they famously stomped in front of in the 1968 serial “The Invasion.” We also have UNIT returning with Jemma Redgrave reprising her role as Kate Stewart and fan favorite Ingrid Oliver returning as the asthmatic Osgood. Talalay also teased in an interview with Radio Free Skaro that we will find out in “Dark Water” who Missy is and who her smiling lackey Seb (Chris Addison) is.

The official synopsis is as follows:
In the mysterious world of the Nethersphere, plans have been drawn. Missy is about to come face to face with the Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming… “Death is not an end” promises the sinister organization known only as 3W – but, as the Doctor and Clara discover, you might wish it was.

Below are the BBC One Teaser and the BBC America Teaser, followed by the gallery.

Oh boy, I really have no idea what to expect, but I’m nervous and excited for sure. Hopefully you are too! Let’s talk about your feelings below, and then come back here Saturday night after you’ve seen the episode to read my full review!
