The early word on Doctor Strange is that it may be unique among the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. We’re still a few weeks from seeing that film on the big screen, but Marvel is already changing the game with its approach to the film’s PR campaign. Case in point, the movie’s stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton were recently featured in a video of them playing a round of Jenga while answering questions from fans.
Marvel posted the video on its official Facebook page, and somebody there deserves a raise for coming up with this idea. The questions were all printed on the Jenga blocks, so that each time a block was pulled, Swinton and Cumberbatch had something to respond to. Although neither performer had much in the way of experience with the game, they really went for it, and carefully selected the easiest blocks to extract.
In the early part of the video, Swinton revealed her ideal vacation and told viewers whom she would travel back in time to meet, while Cumberbatch expressed his thoughts about Strange’s human side and the surprisingly vast science tidbits that he learned for the film. Cumberbatch also spoke about the way that Strange’s character arc connected with him.
As newcomers to the game of Jenga, they fared pretty well while fielding questions about puppies and pet peeves. They even made it last long enough for Cumberbatch to make an unexpected quote. But in this game, everything comes down eventually, whether you want it to or not!
