Do Superheroes Get Scared? Find Out In THE AVENGERS HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

If you’re anything like us, you’re already counting down the days to Halloween. Crisp, cool air, crunchy leaves underfoot, Iron Man and Captain America in a horror comic… wait, what?

That’s right, True Believers, Marvel Comics is releasing a horror anthology of five stories starring some of your favorite superheroes. The Avengers Halloween Special will be in comic book stores on October 31, and you’ll find more than just Avengers, suspense, and scares in its pages.

Daredevil, The Punisher, the X-Men, and more all share the spooky spotlight in this book from both veteran comic book talent and writers new to Marvel Comics. Gerry Duggan, The Soska Sisters, Jay Baruchel in his Marvel debut, Robbie Thompson, and more pen these super-scary stories.

This isn’t the first time the Avengers have had a memorable adventure on Halloween; in fact, one in particular marks the first ever Marvel and DC Comics crossover. The Mighty Thor #207 (1973) features a Halloween parade that has some very familiar faces in it. (Learn more about the Rutland Halloween Parade and crossover thanks to The Wednesday Club over at Geek & Sundry.) Who knows what other momentous surprises might be lurking in this latest Avengers Halloween special?

“The stories will showcase your favorite Marvel heroes through a funhouse mirror of the macabre, twisting their stories into terrifying tales sure to send shivers up your spine,” promised editor Jake Thomas in the book’s press release. Find out for yourself how scary these superhero stories really are this October.
