DIY GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Business Card Holder

News flash: Guardians of the Galaxy was released on DVD and Blu-ray this week. You’ve probably been listening to the soundtrack, Awesome Mix Vol. 1, since you walked out of the theater in August, and now you can watch all of Peter Quill’s smooth dance moves over and over again. Well, his dance moves and dancing baby Groot. It’s a close competition, but I think baby Groot wins. Sorry, Star-Lord.

Anyway, Geek & Sundry‘s Paul Mason, a/k/a Paul the DIY Guy, is still hooked on a feeling and designed a craft inspired by the film. He specifically decided to challenge himself to come up with a project that didn’t include Groot. He used an old cassette tape to make a small wallet that holds business cards and looks like Peter Quill’s favorite music mix.

Supplies for the project include a cassette tape, fabric, two part epoxy, a Dremel, a zipper, and a few other essentials. Because making the wallet requires grinding plastic bits off the cassette tape and handling epoxy, it’s not a project for kids to tackle on their own. Don’t worry about sewing though – the fabric is all glued on. It’s so much easier that way. See how the wallet’s assembled:

Paul links to a template for the Awesome Mix stickers in the video description so you’ll have no problem replicating the look of the cassette.

Will you be making an Awesome Mix Vol. 1 business card holder? Let us know in the comments. And if you do make one, please consider filling it with cards that only say “I am Groot” and your phone number.
