While some of us are holding on to the last vestiges of summer like a man lost at sea holds on to a raft, some of you have already begun to buy your pumpkin-flavored lattes and your pumpkin-flavored beer and your pumpkin-flavored pumpkins, which means we here at Nerdist are officially ready to start preparing for Halloween. (Unofficially itâs a 364-day thing.)
Celebrating Halloween goes well beyond just throwing together a costume. Halloween is about throwing parties. Oh, and something about kids and candy or whatever (not as interested in that). Throwing a great Halloween party has to be more than just playing the Monster Mash and the Ghostbusters theme all night, though–you need to create an ambience worthy of Khaleesi costume.
The YouTube users PhotoandGrime.com have an inexpensive way to help you set the mood, with this DIY tutorial for how to make homemade glow in the dark UV foam.
Just get some shaving foam, UV reactive face-paint, mix them up, put them under a black light, and youâre done. Unspoken in their instructions is to have creepy music that sounds like it would be constantly playing for mother at the Bates house.
Since they only use products designed for your face anyway, this foam is wearable, and if your costume is to be a real-life Salvador Dali painting youâll be able to melt the night away.
Make sure to check out some of their other videos, since they have more ideas on how to make your Halloween party better and cheaper. I mean, I canât tell you how much Iâve spent on store-brand slime over the years.
Have any other ideas to make your Halloween party great without going bankrupt? Share them in the comments below because no one wants a lame Halloween party, and check out some other gross black goo in the trailer for Nerdist Presents: The Hive!
