Cinderella has lost her glass slipper again, but Disney will help her find it in their upcoming live-action take on the story. They released the first image from the film featuring Lily James in the lead role (pictured above) back in September, but now they’ve revealed the official poster and the first teaser for Cinderella.
And by teaser, they mean an announcement trailer. The minute-long peek at the film is actually just a fancy commercial for the glass slipper. While the footwear is gorgeously rendered and an iconic part of the Cinderella story, I was hoping for a little more… like, actually seeing characters. Wait a minute. Maybe the shoe IS a character.
The brief peek does show me that the film is likely to be beautiful. If they put that much care into a high heel in the teaser and the poster, just imagine what the whole world will look like.
Now, who’s in that world? Many of the same characters you saw in the animated Cinderella from 1950. The plot is familiar too, and it seems to have similarities to 1998’s Ever After . Cinderella’s father remarries after her mother’s death, he unexpectedly passes away, her stepmother and stepsisters treat her horribly, she meets a mysterious man, surprise – he’s the prince, fairy godmother, the end.
Don’t lose heart, though! The cast sounds wonderful. Cate Blanchett is the Evil Stepmother, Richard Madden – yes, Robb Stark! – is Prince Charming, Helena Bonham-Carter is the Fairy Godmother, and Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd is the Grand Duke. Those names are enough to make me feel excited about the movie – with or without a snazzy glass slipper.
You’ll be able to see Cinderella on March 13, 2015. Are you looking forward to this adaptation? Let us know in the comments.

though beautifully rendered, the glass “slipper” as glass stiletto is a disappointment! damn .. common Disney!
What’s up with the poorly shopped “bib” over her chest?
Some Prude photoshopped out her chest.
Well that’s definitely the most disappointing teaser I’ve ever seen.
