Fans of the Disney theme parks are among the most devoted in the world. Those of us who are devotees collect all kinds of memorabilia related to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but one Disney Parks fan has taken his love to entirely new heights. Thanks to The Disney Blog, we’ve learned about a man named Travis Larson, who built a mini recreation of Fantasyland from Disneyland in his own basement. You can check out a video tour of what is surely the “Happiest Basement on Earth” down below.
This Disney-themed basement is inspired by the Alpine village look of Fantasyland from Disneyland in Anaheim, and not Magic Kingdom in Orlando, so there are facades that reference attractions and restaurants unique to Anaheim’s park, like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and the Pinocchio Village Haus eatery. The owner even went as far as having recorded crowd sounds and queue music, all for full authenticity. And like any good Disney park, there are plenty of park benches to be found. All that’s missing is the churro stand.
The owner of this Disneyland-inspired basement began working on this project in 2005 when he bought his house, but it’s only been in the last few years that he’s really gotten serious about it and made it the epic Disneyland tribute that it is today. The Fantasyland basement is still a work in progress, however, as the owner plans to add more to it, and will be chronicling the expansion of his mini-theme park on his YouTube channel. Who knowsâmaybe he’ll somehow find room for Dumbo’s Flying Elephants somewhere down there too!
What do you think of this amazing tribute to Walt’s original theme park? Be sure to let us know your thoughts down below.
