The Muppets may be off of TV, but they’ll soon have a new home in Florida. Disney has revealed that that the new live show, The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History will open at Disney World in Orlando next month!
According to Oh My Disney, the first performance of the Muppets’ take on Great Moments in American History will be on Sunday, October 2 in the Magic Kingdom park, outside of the Hall of Presidents. The Disney Parks blog notes that there are currently performances scheduled for six times a day, as host James âJ.J.â Jefferson  â  the official town crier of Liberty Square â and his Muppet friends, Sam Eagle, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, and the rest humorously offer their take on major events in the country’s past including the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The blog also seems to indicate that the show will rotate some of the “great moments” in the show, including a recreation of Paul Revere’s midnight ride. Somehow, we think that Gonzo is the go-to Muppet for that. Although we don’t expect it to end well for him.
Of course, it just wouldn’t be the Muppets if there weren’t music involved. As part of the show, the Muppets will perform a new original song called âGreat Moments in History,â which was written by Valerie Vigoda and Brendan Milburn.
