One of the things we love about the internet, other than having every bit of information we’d ever need at our fingertips, is the endless talent of nerdy fans and their penchant for sharing it with the world. Lately, an illustrator and concept artist by the name of Fernanda Suarez has been bringing our favorite Disney princesses to a more modern setting in a stylish series of fan art.
A recent post on Bored Panda brought these no-nonsense portraits of the kick butt ladies of Disney movies to our attention and we can’t get enough of them.
Revamping Disney characters and bringing them into a more realistic world isn’t anything entirely new, but Suarez’s creations somehow capture the essence of each character in a way that makes them seem completely believable. In a way, it looks as if Disney commissioned these for modern reboots.
So far, this modern Disney roster includes Mulan, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, and Snow White. Since the Instagram posts have been spaced out over the past few months gives us hope that these aren’t the last Disney characters to be modernized. We’d love to see a boating enthusiast/surfer Moana or a hipster Merida amazed with the advancements in today’s archery equipment.
