Artist Reimagines Disney Characters in the Style of Tim Burton

Classic Disney cartoons aren’t remembered as being dark or strange, though many are just that. Bambi‘s opening is painful, and the scene in Pinocchio where the boys turn into donkeys is certainly surreal. I mean, the entire premise of Snow White sounds like a horror film. Maybe it would be fun if they all got a re-imagining to capture the weirder realities of their bizarre stories. Now we can even picture what those versions might look like, because one artist may have found just the director to make them happen.

Andrew Tarusov made posters for a series he titled “What if Tim Burton directed all Disney classic movies?” and they are spot on, and in some cases look like far more interesting version than the ones we have.

These are fantastic, and they certainly look and feel like a Tim Burton helmed cartoon. They are darker, but still seem fun and exciting, even welcoming. The big eyes and elongated features are beautiful in that weird way Burton manages to pull off at his best.

Tarusov talked about the inspiration behind his work with HelloGiggles, so make sure you head over there to check it out. We have a few more of this series in our gallery below, but definitely head over to his page to see the rest, where you will also want to check out some of his other great pieces, like his Game of Thrones pin-up series.

Which one of these films do you think would lend itself best to a Tim Burton directed version? Tell us in the comments below.
