Disney Announces WRECK-IT RALPH 2 for 2018

Can we have some real talk here? Please, can we? Frozen is a whatever movie. There, I said it. It’s perfectly fine, but it doesn’t deserve all the adoration it received and continues to get. Tangled was a way better movie, as was Wreck-It Ralph. We’re getting a Frozen sequel, naturally, because the box office was bazoinkers, but Tangled only got a short called Tangled Ever After. I mean, what gives?!? That’s why Disney’s news on Thursday, released via Facebook Live, has me extremely excited: Wreck-It Ralph is getting a full theatrical sequel, set for release on March 9, 2018!

The livestream saw director Rich Moore (who also co-directed the recent mammoth hit Zootopia) tease a new project he’s working on with Phil Johnston, the writer of the first Ralph and Zootopia. The pair will co-direct this new movie, which they ever so slyly revealed to be Wreck-It Ralph 2 by the appearance of actor John C. Reilly wearing Ralph mitts.

The new film–which also has a new official image (above)–will find Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced again by Sarah Silverman, presumably) wreaking havoc on the internet. Note the parody versions of very popular and powerful web presences. Get ready for tons of references to how the internet is ruining the whole wide world! Also, we’d be very surprised if there wasn’t a Toy Story 3-esque near-apocalypse where Ralph and the Queen of Games get sucked slowly into a Reddit thread full that turns into people calling each other “literally Hitler” only to be suddenly saved by a cat video. You guys with me on that?
