Discover It All in New MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN Trailer

Move over, mutants! This fall, 20th Century Fox is ushering in a new group of misfits and gifted students in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. And let’s just say that these kids aren’t exactly the X-Men: As you can see in the newly released trailer, most of the children don’t have powers that easily translate into weapons.

Eva Green‘s Showtime series Penny Dreadful may have come to an end, but she’s got the titular role of Miss Peregrine, the sometimes ruthless headmistress of the school, to scare us with this go-around. However, the main focus in this trailer is Asa Butterfield’s Jacob Portman, a teenager who is drawn to the peculiar children, and Olive Abroholos Elephanta (Lauren McCrostie) in particular. Olive is practically lighter than air, which is why she needs to be weighted down at almost all times.

The trailer hints that Jacob will find his own power as he steps up to protect the peculiar children. To do that, he’ll have to get past Samuel L. Jackson‘s Barron, an enigmatic individual who seems to be obsessed with the enhanced abilities of the children. It seems to us that Jackson played a similar character in Jumper, when he was chasing Hayden Christensen around the world. It didn’t work out for Jackson the first time, so we expect similar results this time when Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (directed by Tim Burton) gets released on September 30.
