Is ‘Fan Death’ as big a thing in Korea as the Internet makes it out to be?
I worked in Korea for a few months in 2011, primarily in the Gangnam neighborhood in Seoul, and parts of Busan. The barber pole thing is pretty much a weird rumor shared amongst expatriates. Prostitution definitely exists in Korea, and large portions of the male finance professional communities seems to participate, but it is concentrated in red light locations.
I never tried to download porn online, but you can purchase pornography at most dvd rental stores. Adult titles are integrated into mainstream sections. Homosexuality is not mainstream, but younger, college educated people tend to be more progressive.
