DEVIL’S THIRD, Next From NINJA GAIDEN Creator, Goes Wii U Exclusive

Since the dissolution of THQ last year, a few projects attached to the publisher have been in seeming limbo. While it’s doubtful Guillermo del Toro’s horror game Insane will ever see the light of day, Valhalla Game Studio’s Devil’s Third appears to have found a home, becoming an E3 exclusive according to creator Tomonobu Itagaki in a chat with IGN.

Showing off footage for the now Wii U-exclusive Devil’s Third, Itagaki said that Nintendo truly understood his vision for the gory combat game and that the Gamepad would prove integral to its competitive aspect. Way back when it was announced in 2011, it was planned as a 360 and PS3 release published by THQ.

The hack and slash/shooter is the latest from the Ninja Gaiden creator, who left Tecmo to form the new team working on his new title. From the looks of it, tattooed hero Ivan doesn’t handle that much differently from ninja Ryu Hyabusa – if Ryu could shoot from around cover and play the drums.

No word on a release date, but last year, Itagaki promised that Devil’s Third would be ready in 2014.
