Who doesnât love watching Denzel Watching kick major butt? The man just makes it look so easy and fun, like in his latest outing, an adaptation of CBSâ 80s television series, The Equalizer. Re-teaming with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, littleâs been seen from the upcoming film, but that all changed with the first stellar looking teaser trailer:
Yeah, weâll watch that.
It appears the film got all the key plot points of the old series down: mysterious vigilante who helps the weak with their problems. Thatâs all we really need. Itâs also nice to see Denzel Washington is working to single-handedly keep alive the mid-range budget movie. The Equalizer is running a not terribly expensive budget of $50 million, and thanks to that budget, itâs probably going to get away with some very well constructed R-rated action sequences. Yay, realistic violence!
As far as Fuqua goes, if thereâs one thing the guy knows how to direct, itâs one man against the world movies. Shooter, Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen, thereâs no doubt The Equalizer will fall right in line with his recent filmography. Also, based on this trailer, this might end up being some of his most hard-hitting directorial efforts since Training Day, and thatâs totally fine because we think everyone would love to have another âKing Kong ainât got nothinâ on me!â moment from Denzel.
The Equalizer hits theaters September 26th.
